Charity event ticketing FAQs for the UK

Can I sell tables as well as individual tickets?

Yes. Set up a table ticket with the number of seats. The purchaser assigns the seats at checkout or later, and GalaBid invites each guest by email to confirm their details.

Can I offer free tickets?

Yes. Free ticket types work exactly like paid ones without the payment step. Useful for sponsors, speakers and free-entry school fairs.

Can I set a capacity for ticket types and the whole event?

Yes, you can set a capacity for the event overall and the number of each type ticket available for sale.

Can I collect dietary requirements and menu choices?

Yes. Add custom questions at registration in tick box, multiple choice or free text format and export the answers for your caterer.

How does check-in work?

Guests show their PDF ticket. Staff mark them in from a laptop or phone using a volunteer account or the dashboard, and can issue paddle numbers at the same time. QR scanning is coming soon.

Can I claim Gift Aid on ticket sales?

No. The guest receives a benefit, so Gift Aid does not apply to the ticket price. Add a separate donation item for gifts that do qualify.

Can a guest transfer their ticket if they cannot come?

Yes. The purchaser or the campaign admin can transfer the ticket to another guest.

Is a seating plan tool included?

Table planning is coming soon. In the meantime, export the guest list with table assignments to build your plan.

Does VAT apply to my ticket sales?

Often not, if your event meets HMRC's fundraising events exemption. If it does apply, GalaBid can add VAT to the ticket price. Check with your accountant.

What are the payment options for UK ticket sales?

GalaBid integrates exclusively with Stripe UK for online payment processing. Stripe accounts are easy to set up from within GalaBid. Stripe's card fees can be passed on to ticket purchasers as an optional or mandatory fee.

How quickly do we receive ticket money?

It settles to your own Stripe account. GalaBid never holds it. Stripe's standard UK payout timing then applies.

Can guests donate when buying a ticket?

An add-a-donation option at ticket checkout is coming soon. Today, guests can donate from the same account once registered.

Is GalaBid an alternative to Eventbrite for charity events?

Yes, and it connects ticketing to the auction, raffle and pledges on the night, which Eventbrite does not do. There are no per-ticket booking fees added by GalaBid; see pricing for current UK plans.

Can guests pay by cash or cheque on the door?

Ticket payments currently go through Stripe online, or tickets can be free. Recording cash and cheque ticket payments is coming soon.
