This is general guidance, not legal advice. Gift Aid cannot be claimed on raffle tickets, but it can be claimed on a separate voluntary donation added to your campaign.

"This is our second year using Galabid for our biggest event of the year. Their customer svc is amazing; they are ALWAYS there to help when needed (even when I had a question at the end of our event at 9pm!) I also conducted a comparison between Galabid and other top bidding sites - Galabid was at the top. You won't be disappointed."

“This was my first experience running an online auction and this was such a great experience. The help chat was so helpful with any questions that I had. Will definitely be doing this again next year”

“It's the first time we used GalaBid but we'll certainly use them again - it was brilliant. Extremely easy to upload items to the online auction that we created. Support online chat function was excellent - got immediate answers to anything we were confused about. Added donation function as an additional item on our auction - it was so easy and so amazing and we were thrilled with the whole thing!”

“Our Pride 2024 Event fundraising was a success in part due to the Galabid Auction/Raffle/Donation page we were able to create. It was simple to do, and easy for the participants to view and get their bids in. The pages of auction items looked great! Very smooth process and also the funds were deposited quickly to our account. Thanks!

If you sell tickets online or in advance, you are running a small society lottery and must register with your local council before tickets go on sale. The fee is £40 for the first year and £20 a year after that. You do not need a licence from the Gambling Commission unless ticket sales exceed £20,000 in one draw or £250,000 in a year. If tickets are only sold and drawn at the event itself, no registration is needed.

Yes. Set the raffle to open and close during the event. Guests buy on their phone at the venue, cash sales are logged by your team, and you draw on screen. Because no tickets are sold in advance, no registration is required.

GalaBid provides the ticketing, purchaser records, draw and reports that a small society lottery needs. Registration with your council is done by your organisation, not by GalaBid.

No. HMRC classes a raffle ticket as a payment for the chance to win, so it is not a donation. Gift Aid can be claimed on a separate voluntary donation, which you can add to the same GalaBid campaign.

For a small society lottery: the name of your society, the ticket price, the name and address of the promoter, and the date of the draw. GalaBid's digital tickets carry the campaign name, ticket number, price and draw date. Add the promoter details in your campaign description or terms.

Ticket payments settle to your own Stripe account. GalaBid does not hold funds at any point, so there is no weekly payout to wait for. Stripe's standard UK payout timing then applies.

See the pricing page for current UK plans. Stripe's processing fees are passed through with no markup, and you can choose whether you or the supporter covers them.

Yes, plus all major debit and credit cards, through Stripe UK.

Yes. Most UK gala dinners and charity balls run both. They sit on one campaign site with one checkout and one set of reports.

Small society lottery rules apply to Great Britain. Northern Ireland has its own rules. Check with your council before opening sales to overseas supporters.

GalaBid uses a random number generator with each sold ticket having an equal chance. The draw is logged, and the winner is notified instantly by email or SMS.

Yes. Stripe is free to set up and takes around 10 minutes with your charity registration number and bank details to hand. Some accounts take a few days to verify, so do this first.

Yes. Record cash and cheque sales in the dashboard and they enter the same draw with their own ticket numbers.
