Trying to manage over 100 artworks is a really big job from our end but Galabid certainly made managing them online very easy. We did not have one person contact us to ask for help registering or bidding. Capturing all the bidders data made the follow up (particularly the shipping) so much easier for us as well. The only issue (which is not the fault of Galabid) is some of the bidders failing to go through with their purchase – so we really appreciated being able to run the second chance auction! We used a mobile bidding platform for the first time this year for our annual gala dinner. We were a little nervous about how this would go as the fundraising aspect of the gala dinner is so critical. We couldn’t have been happier with GalaBid. From beginning to end they were extremely helpful, professional and responsive. The platform was easy to set up and if we had any questions, someone was always available to assist us. I couldn’t recommend GalaBid highly enough.

St Finbar‘s Primary School was looking at ways to fundraise for school improvements without continually tapping into our own small school community. We had held small live auctions at school functions before, and items were often sold well below market value due to the small pool of people wanting to bid on them. The idea of taking an auction online meant that members of our school community could participate in the auction, but it also meant anyone could participate. Our market was endless A decision was made to hold an art auction online, with an aim to raise $5,000-10,000 after expenses. Some savvy marketing on social media, particularly Instagram saw the auction accumulate a strong following, and we were delighted with the result. $18,500 was raised, exceeding our expectations. The support from GalaBid was instrumental. The straight forward user interface made it easy for bidders to participate. The SMS function was a great way to cummunicate with registered bidders, successful bidders and also invite unsuccessful bidders to make a donation. Adding the Donation option saw us raise over $1,000 that we would have otherwise not raised. An Account Manager that can be contacted by phone was invaluable and something that sets GalaBid apart. We felt we always had excellent support – no question was too big or too small. This was all supported by a simple landing page we set up, giving our auction and polished, professional and enticing look. We’ll be back!

We would have no hesitation using GalaBid again and recommending them to any charity looking for an online bidding system. People were much more likely to bid. The fact that they were given notifications when they were outbid was really clever. People remarked several times that they had spent more than they intended because they got competitive with someone who was bidding against them. The ability to send out prizes to attendees in advance was particularly useful. Not only could people start bidding before the event, it also meant that people who didn’t make it to the event could also bid. By having an online platform, Alumni, past parents & friends were able to purchase raffle tickets and also bid on silent auction items. We had raised $60,000 before the lunch had even started. This definitely helped maximise the return from the event.

GalaBid enabled many more guests and even those not attending our ball to bid on the auction, which resulted in a profit of at least $40,000 more than previous years. Guests having their own handset and receiving a text message when they were outbid were options not previously available as well as being able to add the full prize description and photo to the online system. Items were much easier to find using the categories option, so guests didn’t have to wade through the entire catalogue to find what they were interested in. Our guests enjoyed using the platform with many getting in early with registration and bids and setting up their favourites prior to the night. We are thrilled with our overall result! GalaBid was around 40% of the price of the previous system we were using with a 30% increase in profit from our auction items.

Giant Steps

GalaBid allowed us to silently auction off prizes on the night, creating an exciting and interactive atmosphere for our guests. Also in using GalaBid, we were able to kick off our fundraising efforts prior to the evening by opening our auction several weeks before the event. Undoubtedly, this contributed to the success of our evening and allowed us to raise funds for this important new Fertility Research Centre.

GalaBid created a dynamic edge to a long running event that had severely under performed in the silent auction bidding result in the past. We were able to broaden our reach beyond the room on the night and create a great buzz and excited marketing feel for the event. From the initial hesitation from older committee members and guests I think we have them hooked!

Pretty much from the word go I knew GalaBid was the right solution: it was very easy to use and I really liked the user friendly interface and the fact you could load your own pictures and item info. Using mobile phones is such a great way of doing things as it provides a whole event solution Also having a fully electronic catalogue meant we could do away with our display tables as space was tight- this meant we fitted another 100 attendees as we didn’t need auction tables. But the main auction features were what really made a difference: not just silent auction but also being able to advertise live auction items ahead of the live event and communicate our bursary programme through the donation features included in the catalogue which helped to secure us extra fundraising revenue. We also had quite a lot of ‘home bidders’ i.e. people who couldn’t actually make it to the live event. In fact 30% of our bids were made by non-attendees. It also meant on the night we can concentrate on fun rather than just fundraising – the technology did it all by itself.

Since 2017, we have used GalaBid at our major annual fundraising event, Harcourts Dancing with the Stars, with an audience of 2000 people. We could not have been more impressed by the platform Galabid gave us to raise money for work with the victims of the Ukrainian conflict. We were able to run a week-long auction of nearly 100 donated artworks and also a month-long sale at fixed price of over 250 pictures and sculptures. We have raised over £150,000 for the charities involved. The whole process was pretty straightforward for us as volunteer administrators, and for our purchasers and donors. Dee Brannick and her team could not have been more helpful. We have experience of several on-line fundraising and auction sites – we will never look past Galabid.com again, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a cost-effective, professional and slick event partner.
