Silent auction software runs the bidding for a fundraising auction: it lists your items, takes bids from supporters, notifies them when they are outbid, closes the auction on a schedule and collects payment from the winners. A silent auction is typically run before and during a fundraising event. However bidding is online and an event is not necessary to run a silent auction.
No. Bidding runs in a mobile browser. Supporters open a link, register once with their name and phone number, and bid. Removing the download is one of the largest differences in participation between platforms.
The silent auction platform can be entirely free for the fundraiser. This is made possible by optional tips to the platform. GalaBid shares 10% of tips with the cause. If you prefer to switch off the tip prompt choose a flat fee per campaign or a fee tied to what you raise. Plan inclusions are detailed on the pricing page. Card processing is charged separately at Stripe's rates with no GalaBid markup.
They may be. For an auction benefiting a qualifying charity, only the amount paid above an item’s fair market value may qualify for a charitable deduction, subject to IRS requirements. Buyers should confirm eligibility with their tax adviser, and organizers should check their disclosure and receipt requirements.
A written acknowledgment is a receipt from your organization stating the amount given, whether the donor received any goods or services in return, and a good faith estimate of their value if they did. The IRS requires a donor to have one for any contribution of $250 or more in order to deduct it, obtained no later than the date they file. GalaBid supplies the transaction records; your organization issues the acknowledgment.
Yes, in one campaign. The silent auction runs through cocktails and dinner while live lots are held for the stage, and both feed the same tally and the same checkout.
Automatic overtime extends that item by a set number of seconds each time a late bid lands, so a lot never closes while two people are still competing. You choose to enable overtime and the extension length.
Yes. Max bidding lets a supporter enter a ceiling once and the platform bids on their behalf up to it. Their maximum stays private, and they stop having to watch their phone.
Winners pay at checkout through your organization's own Stripe account. Flat fee plans can also record cash, check or manual card payments, and the checkout console shows every invoice and its status.
On Stripe's payout schedule to your own bank account, because the money never sits in a GalaBid account. That is different from platforms that hold funds and release them after the event.
Roughly one item per four attendees is a widely used starting point. Too few and bidders have nothing to choose between, too many and the same bidders spread thinly so each item closes lower.
