How much does GalaBid cost in Canada?

See the pricing page for Canadian plans. On the Free plan there is no platform fee; supporters are offered an optional tip at checkout and 10% of tips are shared back to your cause. A Pro plan at 4.9% with no tip prompts and a flat fee option are also available. Stripe's Canadian card fees are passed through without markup. See our Pricing and Information

How do we receive our funds?

Connect your Stripe Canada account from the dashboard. Every payment settles to your linked bank account on Stripe's standard schedule. GalaBid holds no funds at any point.

Do we need to be a registered charity?

No. Registered charities, non-profits, schools, parent councils, sports clubs, faith communities and community groups all use GalaBid. Only registered charities and other qualified donees can issue official donation receipts, and raffles need a provincial or municipal lottery licence regardless.

Can we issue official donation receipts through GalaBid?

GalaBid collects the payment and gives you the transaction data for your receipting. Under CRA rules, donations are receiptable; raffle tickets are not; auction purchases are receiptable only for the amount above the item's posted fair market value when the bid is at least 125% of that value. GalaBid does not determine your receipting position.

Do we need a licence for a raffle?

Yes, in every province. Raffles are licensed by your provincial regulator or municipality (AGCO in Ontario, AGLC in Alberta, the gaming branch in BC, RACJ in Quebec). Online ticket sales need an approved electronic raffle system in most provinces. Auctions and donations need no licence. See our Canada raffle rules by province.

Do supporters need to download an app?

No. Everything runs in a browser on any phone, tablet or computer. Supporters register once with a name and mobile number or email.

Can we take payment in Canadian dollars?

Yes. Campaigns run in CAD, or any currency Stripe supports if you have supporters overseas.

Which cards and wallets are accepted?

Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay, through Stripe Canada.

Can we sell event tickets and tables?

Yes. The ticketing module handles individual tickets, tables, guest lists and check-in. Ticket buyers are already registered to bid and donate on the night.

Can we run more than one campaign a year?

Yes. Run as many campaigns as you like under one organization account, each with its own branding and reports.

How is supporter data handled?

Participant details are available to you in the Reports section. Card details never touch GalaBid. Handling follows our Privacy Policy
