Can supporters who are not at the event bid on live items?

Yes, they can bid online alongside event guests before the auctioneer takes over. If the auctioneer doesn’t sell the item for a higher bid than the pre-bid, the pre-bid can be entered as the winning bid.

How do winners pay?

Once winning bids have been entered, payment can be taken in person or pre-authorised cards can be charged. Payments settle to your own Stripe account. Use the checkout console to record invoices paid by cash, cheque or manual card.

Are live auction wins tax deductible?

Only the amount paid above the item’s fair market value may qualify as a deduction, depending on your organisation’s status. Check your disclosure and receipting obligations with your tax adviser before the event.

Is a fund-a-need gift treated the same way?

A fund-a-need gift is generally a donation, so the full amount may be deductible where the donor receives nothing in return. Check your receipting obligations with your tax adviser.
