Charity Fundraiser: A Dinner with Nigella Lawson

A decadent four-course dinner, a highly anticipated Q&A session and TV's foodie goddess Nigella Lawson. A night of elegant luxury - all while supporting a great cause! Last month, on January 25, a gala charity dinner was held at one of Auckland's most notable locations, the Langham Hotel, to raise money for The Rising Foundation. An organisation set up to assist youth in developing their full potential. With the assistance of the GalaBidauction software

platform, the culinary event of the year managed to smash their target by over 20%. This is how they did it… Chef, journalist, broadcaster, television personality, gourmet, food writer and award winning Nigella Feasts star - known simply as Nigella - featured as a special guest donating her time, free of charge. Nigella gave a divine presentation as she spoke about her culinary expertise and remarkable business success and accomplishments. The night also included live music by kiwi icon Dave Dobbyn, an interactive Q&A and a live and online charity auction with some very fabulous prizes. Adding a nice touch to the evening, guests also received Nigella's latest book to take home. The response from fans leading up to the event was ideal. Having a drawing card, such as a celebrity guest speaker, is a great way to build excitement and appeal to potential ticket buyers. Making sure that your guest speaker is aligned with the interests of your guests and organisation is a must! One way of doing this may be to find a celebrity, sporting star or public figure who has an attachment or backstory related to the cause.
