How do people register for an auction?

There are three easy ways to register for an auction:

  • Ahead of the live event: You can send out a link to your auction ahead of the live event: people can click on the link from any device (mobile, tablet, laptop) and then register themselves by entering their mobile number and their name. They then receive a text message with the link to the auction catalogue. They can then click on this to view the catalogue and bid from their phone, or they can also continue bidding from a tablet, laptop or desktop.
  • Through a volunteer: When guests arrive at your event volunteers will be able to register them for the auction simply by entering their name and mobile number. The guests will then receive a text with the auction catalogue link sent straight to their own mobiles so they can start bidding. Alternatively, they can bid via a volunteer. Volunteers can place bids and make purchases and donations for anyone in the room. Think of them as ‘personal shoppers’.
  • Via QR code.
  • By sending a text: Guests can text your event short code followed by their name to register for the auction. For example: ‘silverball john smith’. They then receive a text with a link to the auction catalogue that they can click on to view the auction and start bidding. You can include these instructions in your programme, by the silent auction display and also on large screen leaderboard displays.

GalaBid users can connect to the platform in the following ways:

  • By using their 4G phone network
  • By using the venue’s wifi
  • Providing a tablet/iPad will allow guests to share and bid through the same device
  • By asking a volunteer or staff member to bid/ donate on their behalf (usually via a tablet/i-Pad)

This 4-pronged approach means all guests are always able to bid.
